Rotary President Gary Huang says, "In Rotary, we have the opportunity to build bonds of friendship with fellow Rotarians around the world...to share new ideas, plan new service and just have fun. Service and friendship go hand in hand."
Back in March 1976, Rotarian W. Balentine Henry observed, "Wherever you go around the world, you may enter a Rotary club meeting not knowing a soul, but you have a roomful of potential friends. Because you hold in common certain basic assumptions about life, there is a basic friendship."
In July, K.R. "Ravi" Ravindran will become the first Sri Lankan president of Rotary International. In an interview in the March issue of The Rotarian, Ravi says, "Success is a relative term. Albert Einstein said, 'try not to become a man of success, but rather a man of value.' It is more important that I am known as a man of value."
Ravi also told The Rotarian, "One does not go in search of leadership positions, but I think if you are a good follower, then leadership comes around to you in a most natural manner."
